Education

- PhD candidate. 2007-present. Macquarie University. Australia.
- MSc 2005 Centro Investigación y Educación Superior de Ensenada. México.
- BSc (Hons). 2002 Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur. México.

Career History

I have been involved in elasmobranch research in the Gulf of California and Pacific Coast of Baja California Peninsula in Mexico since 2000.

- 2000-2002. Elasmobranches fisheries. (Dr. Carlos Villavicencio-Garayzar UABCS)
- 2002-2007. Elasmobranches genetic population structure. (Dr. Axayacatl Rocha-Olivares CICESE).

Between 2005 and 2007, I participated as research assistant in the following projects:

- Population structure and molecular ecology of the mahi-mahi fishes (Dr. Axayacatl Rocha-Olivares CICESE)
- Juveniles recruitment of the California halibut (Dr. Sharon Herzka CICESE)
Genetic population of the red sea urchin (Dr. Oscar Sosa-Nishizaki CICESE)

I started my PhD in august 2007 with Dr. Luciano Beheregaray in Macquarie University. I am working with the speciation modes and comparative phylogeography in elasmobranchs.

Research Interests

I am attracted by the biogeography, phylogeny and evolution of elasmobranchs, especially by the speciation process. I am interested in the integration of all these areas to provide of basis for an accurate management of the group as a resource.

Research Project

- Speciation Modes in Elasmobranchs from the Gulf of California
