Lab facilities

Our lab is equipped to run a number of fragment and sequencing-based DNA methods. In particular, we have large experience in microsatellite development and genotyping and in SSCP analysis
All DNA sequencing is conducted at the Department of Biological Sciences DNA Analysis Facility
A wide range of software for analysis of population genetic and molecular phylogenetic data is available (for PC and Mac, including Sequencher software)

Fieldwork facilities

Structure and logistics for fieldwork in Australia and South America is available via Macquarie University and collaborators from the Universidade do Amazonas, respectivelly. This includes access to power boats, 4WD vehicles and fishing nets, just to name a few.

Our researchers also have acess to a variety of other equipment for field expeditions such as a biopsy system for sampling cetaceans, GPS units, digital cameras and water proof cases
